Beginner Instruction - Learning to Lead

This is a technical Rock Climbing course and therefore designed for smaller groups. We prefer to run this course on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis to make sure you gain as much as possible from the experience. Ideally you should enter this course with your potential climbing partner so that you learn together.

Learning to lead is a huge step in any climber's life and this type of course is a very popular way of learning the ropes. Once complete you will be able to confidently lead climbs knowing you have all the up to date knowledge required to keep you safe. Then the world will be your playground and the fun can really start!

The Learning to Lead course is ideal for climbers with some rock experience and competence, you must be able to belay correctly and tie onto the rope. The course will be designed around you and what you need most. The two day course looks at everything in more detail and allows us to visit more than one location. Having your own gear is not essential as we will provide everything you need, however if you do have your own equipment bring it along.

Topics covered include

  • Lead Climbing Style and Technique
  • Protecting Pitches Effectively
  • 'Sharp End' Confidence
